This cake started life as an orange and almond cake and has been transformed into something a little more seasonal with the addition of apricots and raspberries. It’s an upside down cake, with the fruit cooking on the bottom, so it works best with a spring form cake tin. Deliciously moist, fat and flour free, you’re ticking the boxes for gluten and dairy free with this one. It makes a lovely end to a meal with friends. …

Orange radish kiwi salad
There’s really nothing to this salad other than a delightful combination of unusual ingredients. We put this together for a lunch to compliment another salad and it did jus that! Freshness and a great colour burst to lift your table. …
Spinach, pea shoots, radish and orange salad
Baby spinach is abundant at this time of year – easy to buy and growing fast – so make the most of this vibrant salad leaf with this fresh combination of citrus zing, radish crunch and tasty leaves. Pair with our Almond, purple sprouting and pepper tart or any an abundance of other salads for a great mid-week dinner. …
Quinoa Tabbouleh
In a gluten free diet, couscous is not an option, but as tabbouleh is such a tasty salad, we don’t want it to disappear from our menu – quinoa to the rescue! Its nutty flavour really adds to this dish and its texture compliments the other ingredients nicely. The first radishes are up in the garden at the Steading so this is a little homage to the humble radish! Excellent as part of a spring or summer lunch or an interesting accompaniment to a main dish. Fresh, clean and healthy. …
Rhubarb Tart
We’ve gone a wee bit more sophisticated with our rhubarb in this recipe – with great results. The ground almonds are delicious and help to keep the pastry base crisp on the bottom by soaking up the rhubarb juice. Serve warm or cold with our recipe for almond milk custard….
Stewed Rhubard with orange
A spring fruit that gives so much in terms of flavour and colour, it takes little effort to make rhubarb come alive (and become edible)! The addition of star anise, vanilla and orange was suggested by Roseanna (Laura’s cousin) and provides a delicate flavour that really balances well with rhubarb’s natural sharpness. This recipe isn’t super sweet, so feel free to add a little more honey or agave nectar if it’s too sharp for you. Delicious served as a breakfast with yoghurt or ice cream for a more unusual dessert. …
Anna’s Buckwheat & Orange Cake
This is a gluten free version of Laura’s boyfriend’s mum, Anna’s recipe – it’s Greek. It’s a fantastic gluten free buckwheat sponge – it rises and has a lovely texture! Laura added the glaze and a little orange juice to give a shiny top, but it’s totally gorgeous without it. The cake is big enough to be cut in half and filled with jam or fruit if you want but it’s lovely just as it is in our opinion. Thanks Anna!…
Sparkly Winter Salad

We think it really brightens up the table and it definitely is tasty, healthy, and super easy to make. Serve it with any main dish and you’re well on your way to a boost of vitamins!…
